Yea, the free money government handouts have been rampant over the last 2.5 years (and seemingly not stopping.) $10K isn't much in the scheme of things since the PPP "Loan" program was such a joke A PPP loan that you didn't have to pay back. The Student Loan Forgiveness seems to have hit the nerve of Main Street more painfully for some reason.
I think two reasons: First, the government seems to be teaching that loan elimination has no cost. A really wrong-minded lessson. Second, our economic system is based on the freedom to take on loans - for houses, for business growth, to improve your economic standing.
Without the inherent trust that money loaned will be paid back, getting loans in the future will be harder for the borrower and more hazardous to lenders.
So many families saved for years to pay for college. 20 years later, they are being told that some of their planning was for naught.
