Good article, Sarah. I have found making gratitude into a mental habit --asking, what 3 things am I grateful for at any point in the day. It does help too if you are feeling filled up and not running on empty. I follow the HALT inventory. Am I hungry, angry, lonely, or tired? Knowing where I stand makes it much easier to be grateful.
