I had a great visit to Portugal this summer and met people from all over Europe. The most commonly asked question to me:
What is going on with the US elections and who are you voting for?
I didn’t realize that for most Europeans, the American elections are their elections, too. My heart sank as I didn’t have an answer. No answer for an existential choice that harshly impacts the world.
As an engaged American, I have worked on state and national elections as a volunteer mostly for candidates with military backgrounds. You learn so much from getting involved and don’t feel so powerless over what our two-party system has come to.
But the truth is: I remain a lonely moderate (with now up to 41% of the voting public) and without an electable candidate. It stinks having this Hobson’s choice damned no matter what choice I make.
